Martha Jane Carpenter, 80, of Milton, died Monday, October 19, at a local hospital. She was born in Brewton, Alabama, to the late Sanford S. Murphy and Bernice Peebles and lived most of her life in Milton. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God in Milton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Carpenter; son, Thomas Wade Wyatt; and daughter, Linda Sue Reeves.
She is survived by a son, Sandy (Nancy) Wyatt; daughters, Shirley (Thomas) Moody and Tamra (Scott) Day, all of Santa Rosa County; grandchildren, Donald Braley of Naples, Florida, Jeremy (Rilee) Wyatt and Rhonda McGhee of Pace, and Jennifer Bryant of Foley, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Chase Macarthy and Cameron McGhee, and a longtime special friend, Evelyn Beasley of Jay.
Family will receive friends Thursday, October 22, 2009, at 11:30 am at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm., with the Rev. Fred Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
