Daniel "Richard" Enfinger 1955-2012

Daniel "Richard" Enfinger, 57 of Chumuckla Community, passed away on August 9, 2012.

Richard was a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County, a local contractor and an avid horseman. He touched the lives of many and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel C. and Louise Enfinger and his "second mom" Laurel Howell.

He is survived by his sisters, Rhonda (Paul) Forte and Glenda (Denny) English; brothers, Dennis (Martha) and David (Renita) Enfinger; nephews and nieces, Scott Forte, Dustin (Erin) English, Kenna (Chad) McDaniel, and Daysha Enfinger. Lifelong best friend, Gordan (Lana) Howell; and "second family" Laverne (Vera) Howell, Jimmy (Sharon) Howell, Nancy (Sandy) Wyatt, Lana (Mike) Martin, Stephen (Gail) Howell, Jeremy (Riley) Wyatt and their children.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel with Rev. Andy Martin and family friend Jeremy Wyatt, officiating. Burial at Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Drew Meyers, Dan Lozier, Ricky O'Kelley, Henry Tipton, Michael Neal, Marcus Brannon.

Honorary Pallbearers: John Leonard, Tony Tindell, Johnny Baggett, Timmy Cook, Mike Neal and Kevin Rose.

Myrtle Gertrude Carswell Campbell 1923-2012

March 20, 1923 - July 27, 2012.   Myrtle Gertrude Carswell Campbell, 89, born in Noma, Florida , a life resident of Santa Rosa County  and widow of J. Lee Campbell. Myrtle was the loving mother of Jim and Vic Campbell and Wanda Campbell Roberts.  She found much joy as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Myrtle was born to Navy Victoria and John Robert Carswell as the 9th of 10 children who are all deceased except one, Amie Carswell Howell Hendrix who resides in Jacksonville. Her siblings were, Malgram, Manual, Cecil, Vera, Onie B., E.W., Amie, Bobby, and R.V.  She was a 1941 graduate of Allentown, High School and married J. Lee Campbell in 1944.

She loved children’s ministry and served our Lord in many area churches. Her most loved service was through the Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Myrtle is survived by  children, Jim (Lynne Mock) Campbell, Vic (Karen Gatewood) Campbell and Wanda (John) Roberts: Grandchildren (Jim) Benjamin (Holly Stephen), Kevin (Angie Tancer), Daniel. (Vic) Alex. (Wanda) Wesley, Mary Beth (Josh Barrows), Anna (Matt Peden), Naomi (Nathan McIntosh), Matt (fiancee Margaret Spitznagel): and, eight great-grandchildren. Louise (Bobby Carswell), and Frances (Lamar Campbell), are surviving sister-in-laws.

Funeral Service will be 2 PM, Sunday, July 29 , 2012 at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel with Chaplain David Gibson officiating and Dr. Michael D. Wiggins officiating. Visitation will be from 1PM until time of service. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Elizabeth Chapel  Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Myrtle’s grandsons.

Trevor James Thomas (November 28, 1990 – July 3, 2012

Trevor James Thomas, 21, of Jay, FL passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 on Chumuckla Highway in a tragic car accident on his way to work. He was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL on November 28, 1990 on his Grandmother Judy Ballard’s birthday. Trevor was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rex Thomas and Judy Ballard, his cousin Eric Thomas and uncle, Mike McLean. He is survived by his fiancé Leanne Hughes, parents, Dale and Pam Thomas, siblings Whitney Thomas-Singleton (Brian) & Marshal Thomas, nieces, Kali Vernon and Chloe Singleton, grandparents, Ann Thomas (Roy Dickey), Carlton McLean and Silas Ballard and future in-laws Kimberly Brooks, Brittany Brooks , Sarah Brooks and James Hughes. Trevor was a 2009 honors graduate of Jay High School. Heplayed trombone from 6th to 12th grade in the JHS Band, and was Band President his Senior year. While in band, Trevor met his best friend and love of his life, Leanne Hughes. He proposed to Leanne on December 10, 2011 on Pensacola Beach. They’ve been happily together for seven years. He was a student at the University of West Florida majoring in Chemistry and also working at the woodbine McDonalds. Trevor was such a special person. He was very intelligent, incredibly loving, and extremely happy. He always had a bright smile on his beautiful face that touched everyone’s heart that knew him. He loved music, was constantly singing and had an amazing voice. He spent the majority of his time with his family and friends whom he loved dearly. Trevor’s hobbies included, gaming on the Xbox 360, reading, basketball, football, fantasy football, playing magic cards, and playing with his and Leanne’s dog, Tater. Trevor had a soft spot in his heart for people in need. He was a very giving person and would help people any way he could. Trevor will be deeply missed and loved by all those who treasured him. A visitation will be held at Jay Funeral Home from 6-9 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at True Worship Assembly at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating services. Burial will follow at Pineview United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Willis Cannon, Derek Diamond, Zach Dykes, Zachary Godwin, Robbie Rawls, and Jake Sasser. Jay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chumuckla School Reunion - Sept. 29

Now annually - LAST Saturday in September at the Farmers Opry. 2-4:30 pm,  Opry dinner ($12.50) at 4:30 and optional  show ($10) at 7pm.   The REUNION visiting time will of course exetend through the dinner so people will have plenty of time to share and talk through the meal hours until 7pm when the music show begins. I encourage everyone to attend both the dinner and the show because it is a wonderful meal AND the show is great.  It is understood though that some of the older attendees will want to leave before dark - but it will still be light after the early meal.

Separtate MORNING tour of Skeeter's Museum at 10AM for those who meet at the School Parking area (Lunch on your own - HOWEVER - I will check with the opry about offering a pre-set number of sack lunchers for those who go on the tour ). This will be posted with details and any adjustments with the reunion notes.  Each year ONE of several tour options will be offered -The Museum, A Local Farm, Coon Hill Cemetery, and The School are the current choices. THIS year - THE MUSEUM. (Free).

A Finance  Commitee to determine if we need to even consider a fund to defray minor expenses that happen with reunions like... name tags .. signeage ..  or perhaps we seek a donor.

A Promotion Committee to take on the job of getting the information out both THIS year and NEXT year and possibly consier some kind of meaningful memento for attendees to take home with them.

Norman Charles Walther (Plug) 1923 - 2012

December 18, 1923 May 30, 2012 Norman Charles “Plug” Walther, 88 of Chumuckla, FL passed away May 30, 2012. A lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County, FL, Norman was the devoted husband of the late Grace McCoy Walther. Norman was also a devoted and loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Norman was a 1943 graduate of Allentown School, after graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Army and became a medic. Following his time in the Army, with much encouragement from his siblings, he enrolled in the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Agriculture.

He began his teaching career in agriculture at Chucuckla High School, Norman’s great love for gardening and growing crops was always a great joy to him. Even in the summer of 2012 Norman was still growing vegetables, not only for family, but neighbors. This was something had done all his life. Norman also enjoyed the plant nursery he established in order to educate people on the methods of growing and the different varieties of scrubs and trees.

 He instilled the love of farming to many students while teaching at Chumuckla High. Norman was the eighth child out of ten who were born to the late Will and Nancy Walther; he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Levins, granddaughter, Alisa and three sister in laws, Geneva Lynn, Sula Fulford and Judy Knight . He survived all of his siblings and reigned at the last several Walther reunions as the patriarch of the family, or as some of us put it, “The King of the Hill”; Carrie Lee Walther Carpenter, James Walther, Woodrow Walther, Gordon Walther, Lester Walther, Cecil Walther, Emma Walther Zarahn, Irene Walther Blaisdell and Earl Walther; Norman is survived by his children; Marie (Wayne) Goddard, Jack (Eddnie) Walther, Jane (David) Chavers and Jean Kirkland; grandchildren, Michele, Chris, Jennifer, Marcia, Stacey, Tim, C.J., Josh, and Jonathan; great grandchildren, Caden, Annie, Mickey, Morgan, Mason, Mia, and Macy; two sister in laws, Alice Myers and Catherine Redford of GA and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Rev. Hubert Smith officiating and Ann Walther Sprague officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow at Coldwater Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norman’s grandsons, Tim, Chris, Jonathan, C.J., Joshua and Keith and Clark Harris.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Norman’s granddaughters, Michele, Jennifer, Marcia and Stacey and Billy Walther, Dennis Walther, Kenneth Harris, Willard Davis and close family and friends.

Mr. Larry Clifford 'Pee Wee' Spicer, age 56 of Brewton, AL died on April 13, 2012 at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton, AL.

Mr. Spicer was a native of Brewton, AL and had worked fourty plus years as a truck driver in the transportation industry. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Ray's Chapel in Bogia, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.C. and Ruthie Spicer and a brother, Billy Spicer.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Spicer of Brewton, AL; daughters, Stephanie (Jason) Morgan of Byrneville, FL; Mandi (Larry) Kinley of McDavid, FL; Alicia (Harold) McGhee of East Brewton, AL; brothers, Tom Spicer of Chumuckla, FL; Mike Spicer of Chumuckla, FL; Johnny Ray Spicer of Century, FL; sisters, Mary Ard of Chumuckla, FL,; Shirley Thomas of Pensacola, FL and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, April 15, 2012 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.

Christopher Ray Boutwell 2/18/1986-2/10/2012

Christopher Ray Boutwell, age 25 of Chumuckla, FL passed away on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.

Christopher was born and raised in Chumuckla, FL. Chris was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt, fish, wakeboard on the river, and watch the Alabama Crimson Tide play ball. But his most loved past time was spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his Grandpa "D"

Chris is survived by his parents, Dennis and Elaine Boutwell; sister, Amber; god mother, Vanessa Marlowe; god sister, Michele Morgan; god brother, Shawn Marlowe; fiancé, Mallory Beach; grandparents, George and Sarah Blackmon and Pauline Boutwell; and numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ada Diamond, 2-6-2012, (1915 - 2012)

 

Ada Bauldree Diamond, January 21, 1915 - February 6, 2012

Ada Bauldree Diamond, age 97, of Jay, FL (Brownsdale) went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, February 6, 2012.

Mrs. Diamond was born January 21, 1915 to the late James Richard Bauldree and Annie Myers Bauldree in Enterprise, AL. Her family moved to Jay, FL in 1927. In 1933, she married John Daniel (J.D.) Diamond and had nine children. Together they farmed and operated a grocery store until they retired in 1967.

After retirement, they enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. She was a member of Jay First Assembly of God and loved to go to church and listen to preaching and gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John Daniel Diamond; sons, Richard Edward Diamond, Charles Rudolph Diamond and John Clinton Diamond; sons-in-law, Hardy Renfroe and Dennis Williams; one grandchild, Vickie Diamond; two sisters, Ethel Mae Stewart and Cora Lee Noles; six brothers, Hubert Smith, Lloyd Smith, James Bauldree, T.D. Bauldree, Willard Bauldree and Alfred Bauldree.

Survivors include: five daughters, Addie Rue (Bud) Mote, Linda Williams, Annie Merle Renfroe, Paulette (Tommy) Roberts and Delorise Ann (Glenn) Gavin; one son, James Earl (Faye) Diamond; two daughters-in-law, Doris Diamond and Mary Diamond; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Jay Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M, Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Jay First Assembly of God with Rev. Ron Carnley and Rev. Frederick Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Terrace at Ivey Acres Assisted Living Facility, Covenant Hospice and Dr. Jeffrey Kelley for the special care given to Mrs. Diamond during her last few months.
