ALINE KATIE CARNLEY
1921 - 2007
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillary Joseph; her sons, Don and Gerald and two grandsons, Richard and Chord.
Mrs. Carnley is survived by her brother, Aaron Hopkins (Alberta); brother-in-law, Herman Carnley (Louise), her children, Jim (Barbara), Hillary (Jeanette), Lee (Judy), Larry (Genie), Clint (Elaine), Lois Carson (Tommy), Dora Huelsbeck; her daughter-in-law, Winnie Carnley;18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild
The family extends their deepest thanks to Dr. Amos Prevatt and to the staff of Azalea Trace.
Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel North on Saturday, June 9, 2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 and a funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, Cantonment with Reverend Ron Carnley and Sister Nell Goodman officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. Aline Katie Carnley passed into the next life in the evening of June 7, 2007. Born in Chumuckla on September 26, 1921, Mrs. Carnley lived all of her 85 years as a dedicated servant of the Lord. She was most well-known for her deep and abiding faith in Christ, whether she was at worship, at work, or at rest, but nowhere was it more evident than in her love for her family. Mrs. Carnley was most likely to be found working at the curb market where her green thumb and gracious presence made her a fixture of the community. After her retirement, she spent her time at church or with her many grandchildren. Sister Carnley was known as "Mom" by many of her children's friends and others who came into her life. Whether welcoming folks at Sunday dinner or opening her home to those in need, Mrs. Carnley lived her faith every day until her last.

WAYNE H. JERNIGAN 1927-2007
Mr. Wayne H. Jernigan, 80, of the Chumuckla Community died on May 29, 2007.He was a native of and lived most of life in Santa Rosa County. He was retired from American Cynamid Company where he served as lands manager. He was also a retired farmer and rancher and will be remembered as a true sportsman.
At age sixteen he enlisted in the merchant marines to serve his country and served on wartime cargo ships in hostile conditions.
Mr. Jernigan served his community by being a past member of the board of directors of the Escambia River Electric Corporation and a past member of Board of Alabama Electric Corporation. He was very active in local, state, and national politics.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2007 at Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church with Revered La Don Hall and Reverend John Richardson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Doug Hatfield, David Hatfield, Jerry Hatfield, Mark Harris, Tubby Jernigan, and Clarence Cassidy.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jack Caraway, Jerry Kilpatrick, Copeland Griswold, Paul Griswold, Danny Melvin, and Clint White.

DR. JOE MAURICE BAMBERG SR.
Dr. Joe Maurice Bamberg, 91, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning May 21, 2007. He died peacefully from complications following surgery.
Joe was born July 13, 1915 in Brent, Alabama.
Dr. Bamberg attended Bob Jones College and Southwestern Seminary. He had an honorary doctorate of divinity from Stetson University.
After college, Joe led music in revival services in North Carolina with preacher Jimmy Johnson and it was there that he met Betty Larkins who became his wife. He attended seminary in order to become an Army Chaplain and served two years in Hawaii.
On Aug 26, 1947, he accepted the call to First Baptist Church in Milton, Florida and led that congregation till he retired to Pastor Emeritus status in 1980.
In Milton "Brother Joe" as he was affectionately known, was not content to just be a preacher. He broadcast a 15-minute radio program, "Coffee with the Parson" five days a week for 26 years. As he found prospects around Santa Rosa County, he preferred to establish missions near them rather than try to have them travel to his church. He did not like to ask others to do what he was not willing to do. On a Saturday you might find him leading others from the church to fix up a building or clearing land for a mission or some project. He was especially proud of "Camp Koinonia" which is used for day and overnight camping. He delighted in visiting people in local hospitals whether from First Baptist or not and was a strong supporter of getting the Santa Rosa Medical center built.
After his retirement he and Betty spent their summers at a mountain cabin in Clyde, NC and were active in First Baptist church in Waynesville. He preached in a revival in England, visited missionaries in Africa and went to Chile on a mission trip with Betty.
He was active with the Pensacola Habitat for Humanity.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Minnie Bamberg, his brother "Red" Bamberg and his son, Joe Maurice Jr. who died in infancy. He is survived by Betty Bamberg, his wife of nearly 64 years, his daughter Barrie, his sons, Tim and Bob (Ruth), one grandchild Eddie (Dawn), two great grandchildren Cana Rose and Noah along with his sister, Minnie Ward Griffin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 25 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Milton. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm and Friday starting at 9 am at the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made either to the Bamberg Chapel at First Baptist (First Baptist Church, 6797 Caroline St. Milton, Fl 32570) or Habitat for Humanity (Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 13204, Pensacola, Fl 32591-3204).
LEWIS FUNERAL HOME in Milton is in charge of the arrangements.

ROGER WADE HARRIS
ROGER WADE HARRIS Roger Wade Harris, 56 of Montgomery, Alabama went to be with his heavenly Father on March 28, 2007. He was raised in the Wallace community, graduated from Chumuckla High School and, after numerous jobs; he proceeded on to a successful career at Maxwell and Gunter Air Force Base.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Dezenzo, and many other beloved relatives and friends. He will forever be remembered in out hears as a kind, generous, hard working man, and as the most giving, loving father he could be.
The celebration of my father's life will be held today at DONNIE SOWELL FUNERAL HOME in Milton, FL at 10 a.m.
May the Lord bless and keep him and shine His face upon him and forever give him peace, Amen.

LT. COMMANDER GENE O. EVANS, SR. (RET.)
1932-2007 - (Teacher at Chumuckla 1972-84 - Submitted by Doug Davis)
Gene Evans passed away February 28, 2007 in the presence of family and dear friends.
He is preceded by his wonderful wife, of nearly 48 years, Mary Alice and survived by his devoted daughter Rebecca (Becky) of Pensacola and her life-partner Joy Reuter, and sons Michael of Pensacola and Gene Jr. of Carrabelle, FL. He has 5 grandchildren: Daniel, Brian, Felicia, Nicholas, and Kaylee.
Gene's life began in Easton, PA. The son of Ormond and Marie Evans he has one surviving sibling, Timothy Evans in Ohio.
Gene's first career was with the US Navy. Gene retired as a Lt. Commander in 1971. After receiving his wings in 1956, he specialized in multi-engine land based patrol bombers and also served on the USS Randolph. He also served as a Flight Instructor at Pensacola Naval Station and Whiting Field, Florida.
One of the highlights of his career was his time stationed with his family in Naples, Italy. Upon retirement from the Navy, Gene attended the University of West Florida, receiving both a Masters of Education and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree. Using these degrees he spent the next 18 years as an educator at Chumuckla High School and Pensacola High School and the Escambia County School system.
A devoted family man, Gene enjoyed many hours of boating, fishing and camping with his wife and children.
During his lifetime, he was very active in various clubs and organizations.
As a young man he was the Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 32. He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of the Association of Naval Aviators and the Order of Daedalians.
He was socially active with Krewe of Lafitte, Karnival Kavaliers, Fiesta Frolickers and the Pensacola Waterfront Improvement Society.
In his retirement he was an avid golfer and a member of Scenic Hills Country Club. He also enjoyed frequent trips to Helen, Georgia with his wife and friends.
Gene was a family man who raised his family with love and values and was a true friend to many. He lived a full, rich life and leaves many precious memories of his life.
Gene will be genuinely missed for a long time to come by those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be on 5:00-7:00pm, Friday March 2, 2007 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Frank Beall officiating. The family will also accept friends one hour prior to the service 9:00-10:00am on Saturday. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Bracken, John Gaffney, Frank Pilcher, Howard Pilcher, Connie Seymour, and Hubert Williford. Honorary pallbearer is Arthur T. McGill.
Family and friends would like to thank Covenant Hospice for their loving support during Gene's passage from this life.
