THOMAS DUNCAN SALTER, JR.
JULY 13, 1930 TO APRIL 28, 2009

Thomas Duncan Salter, Jr., age 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Mr. Salter was a native and lifelong resident of Chumuckla and was active in farming until his recent illness. He owned and operated Salter's Farm Market. He loved fishing and feeding his fish in his pond in the afternoon. He was a member of Chumuckla United Methodist Church.
Mr. Salter was preceded in death by his parents; T.D. and Milton Salter.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Salter of Chumuckla; two sons, Tommy Salter of Chumuckla, Louie (Lynda) Salter of Chumuckla; three daughters, Pamela Salter of Chumuckla, Renee' (Greg) Cooley of Jay, Debbie (Ricky) Crews of Woodstock, GA; three grandchildren, Stephen (Jackie) Diamond, Christy (Jeremiah) Cross, Alyssa Crews; seven great grandchildren, Robert Cross, Gavin Cross, Ethan Diamond, Owen Diamond, James Balk, Sylvia Balk, Shelby Balk; one brother, Dick (Glenda) Salter of Chumuckla; four sisters, Gwen (Frank) Enfinger of Wallace, Winona (Copeland) Griswold of Chumuckla, Margaret (Leon) Miller of Wallace, Mabel (Jeffrey) Cotton of Chumuckla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel on Thursday, April 30, 2009 one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held at the Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 2:00pm with Rev. Clive Knight officiating. Burial to follow at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers; Stephen Diamond, Jeremiah Cross, Bill Enfinger, Rusty Enfinger, Terry Spears and Marty Griswold.
Honorary Pallbearers; John Kimbrough, James Earl Carnley, Vonnie Tolbert, Doug Hatfield, Grover Bailey, Neal Sharitz, David Earl Bailey and Colbert Campbell.
The family wishes to convey their sincere appreciation to Dr. David Smith, the nursing staff at Jay Hospital and to Covenant Hospice for the wonderful care our family received.
