Gerald Martello 1937 - 2014

Gerald Anthony Martello was surrounded by his children and loving wife, 
Bernice, when his battle with cancer ended.  On September 27, 2014, he 
departed this Earth for an abundant life in Heaven and today, he is 
whole, celebrating with his Heavenly Father.  Gerald was born on March 
22, 1937 to Tony and Ernestine Martello.  He was born in Hattiesburg, MS 
and then resided in Natchez, MS until making his home in Baker, 
Florida.  The Baker community enriched his life as he developed many 
friends and loved ones since 1964.  He had been married to the love of 
his life, Bernice, for the past 53 years and together they have a 
beautiful family.  He and Bernice have been members of Our Lady of 
Victory Catholic Church in Crestview for over 50 years.  Gerald was a 
charter member of the local council of the Knights of Columbus, a Fourth 
Degree Knight, and brother to many other Knights.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Ernestine 
Martello; his brother, Robert Martello and his son, Vincent Anthony 
Martello.  He is survived by his wife Bernice Martello; son, Chris 
Martello of Baker; daughter, Tena Battistelli and husband, Frank of 
Cibolo, TX; and son, Michael Martello and wife Lee of Crestview; and 
daughter-in-laws, Teressa and Darla Martello. He deeply loved his eight 
grandchildren: Katrina Figger, and husband Matt of Columbia, South 
Carolina; Mia, Rice and Madison Martello; Vince, and wife Jacqueline, 
Kala and Angelo Battistelli; and Carson Martello.  He also adored his 
great grandson, Vincent Anthony Martello, II and was anticipating the 
arrival of his first great granddaughter, Baby JennaLeigh 
Battistelli.  Gerald shared a deep love for his sister-in-law, Donna 
Martello and daughters, Melinda and Robyn of Natchez, Mississippi, as 
well, as the numerous Mississippi cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Family 
and faith meant everything to Gerald. Gerald attended high school at 
Cathedral High in Natchez, Mississippi where he developed his passion 
for the game of basketball.  He continued at Copiah-Lincoln Community 
College, where he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Co-Pi 
Alumni Association on October 11, 2014.  His love of basketball 
continued and was shared between his children, along with numerous Baker 
and local youth.  Many young men still refer to Coach Martello as one 
who gave guidance and motivation to the future leaders of the Baker 
community.  Gerald devoted his life to children through a career as an 
educator for over 30 years. The family will be accepting visitors at 
Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 1 for the Holy 
Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and visitation at 5:30 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be 
celebrated on Thursday, October 2 at 4:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory 
Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Aubrey Jordan Memorial 
Cemetery in Baker.  Bernice and family invite all former basketball 
players of Coach Martello to be Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of 
flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Care 
Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in

Robin Lee Enfinger 1963 - 2014

Robin Lee "Robie" Enfinger, 51 of Pace, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014. He was a native of Chumuckla, Florida, and was the youngest son of the late William Harold Enfinger, Sr., and Effie Dueain Enfinger. Prior to his illness he was a proud member of the Home Depot Family of employees at the Pace Store. He is survived by his brothers, William Harold Enfinger, Jr. (Lisa) and Russell Connard Enfinger (Lisa), 14 nieces and nephews and NUMEROUS (too many to count) great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday, September 6, 2014, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Graveside services will take place at Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery in Chumuckla at 2:00 p.m. (Saturday, September 6, 2014). The Family would like to thank ALL of the different organizations who have ever been involved with Robie in his life and most importantly his Guardian Angel Mom, Debra Daniels. School Reunion Cancelled (as planned)

THE REUNION (as planned) is now CANCELLED. However - a gathering of sorts will occur on that date at THE CUTTING Board on Woodbine Road in Pace (see below). There was no team volunteered or developed to run the reunion planning as we have done in the past recent years. The reservation with Living Truth Church (Farmer's Opry) is cancelled. But don't despair. As an alternative - ALL CHUMUCKLA FRIENDS are invited to come to THE CUTTING BOARD from 11am to 6pm on SATURDAY the 27th to have a meal and enjoy others who are there when you visit. Let your friends know when you plan to drop by and just visit with those who are there. People will come and go for the afternoon on their OWN schedule. There will be NO Program. Just enjoy your old friends from Chumuckla School and have a good time. A sign in sheet will be available for future contact and for you to indicate if you wish to help plan a future reunion activity. Rufus Jackson "Jack" Caraway March 25, 1939 - August 15, 2014

Rufus Jackson “Jack” Caraway, 75, of the Wallace Community in Santa Rosa County, Florida, entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, August 15, 2014. He was born on March 25, 1939, in Santa Rosa County. Jack graduated from Chumuckla High School in 1958. He grew up farming and continued to farm while also working at American Cyanamid. He retired from Cyanamid in 1994. Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden. He loved International Farmall tractors, vacationing in the mountains, and nothing was more precious to him than his wife and family. He was a member of the Chumuckla Community Church, and enjoyed participating on two mission trips to Peru and Costa Rica with the church’s dental team. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Velma Caraway, and sister, Janice Herndon. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Anita Caraway; three sons, Dale (Barbara) Caraway, Keith (Rosemary) Caraway, and Bruce (Rene’) Caraway; a daughter, Susan (Greg) Cotton; six grandsons, Joey Caraway, Brandon Caraway, Chad Caraway, Scott Caraway, Jeremy Cotton and Mark Leflore; two granddaughters, Alisha Caraway and Gretchen Wiggins; thirteen great grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Hannah, Luke Brooklynne, Kendall, Sawyer, Kennley, Levi, Wyatt, Emery, Morgann and Jase; and a special friend Vickie Shiver. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Chumuckla Community Church with Pastor Tom Sharron and Rev. LaDon Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel. Active Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be M. J. Arnold, Ted House, George Garrett, Oscar Pittman, Leon Weeks, Butch Wells, Earl Wendt and William Bond. Jack was a loving and caring Husband, Daddy, Papa, and Friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

ROY Wray 1942-2014

Roy Wray 1942 - 2014

Roy E Wray, 72, was born April 5, 1942, and was called home by the Lord on July 11, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce H. Wray; and three children: daughter Darlene Perreault and husband Richard Perreault; son, Kenneth Wray and wife Shannon Wray; and daughter, Charlotte Cannon and Chris Holly. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Carly Perreault, Hunter Cannon and Ryan Cannon.

Roy was a member of New Bethal Baptist Church. He retired from Air Products 20 years ago, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Visitation from 12 noon - 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at New Bethel Baptist Church. Service to follow at 2 p.m. with Lewis Funeral Home directing.

Howard Everett (Johnny) Morris

Howard Everett (Johnny) Morris October 21, 1959- June 15,2014 Howard Everett (Johnny) Morris, age 54, a lifelong resident of Jay, Florida went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2014 after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. Johnny was born on October 21, 1959 to Howard Ezra and Hazel Simmons Morris. On June 16, 1978, Johnny married the love of his life, Shelia Kirkland. Together they have two sons: Howard Eric, (wife Jenny) and Brandon Keith, wife Ashley. Johnny was Papa to Hayden E. Andrew, Bryson Keith, Kailee Ann, Madison Elizabeth and Camden Michael. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, his father in law and mother in law, Edgar and Helen Paul. He leaves behind two sisters, Susan and husband Randy Hornsby, Kristie and husband Benjie West. Brother in law Johnny and wife Patsy Kirkland and Darrell and wife Felicia Paul; and many nieces and nephews. Johnny was employed with Cerex for over 30 years, until his illness caused him to retire earlier this year. Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved working outdoors and building things in his shop. Johnny loved his family, sons and grandchildren, all of his good ole buddies from the Cobb Branch Hunting Club and friends from work. He fought to live to see his grandbabies grow up and enjoy life but God had other plans for him. He is resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord with his daddy, mother, father in law and brother in law Teddy, all of whom he loved dearly. Funeral Services for Johnny will be held at 2:00 PM Friday June 20, 2014 at the Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel with Rev. LaDon Hall and Rev. Gene Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cora Baptist Church Cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home directing. Jimmie Ellis 1928-2014 Jimmie Ellis, lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at the age of 85. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Cameron of Milton, FL; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and very close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Daigo) Ellis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a life long Horseman of some reknown. His love for his horses and dedication to family and friends was unsurpassed. Loved by many and missed by all. Marcel Edward Gauthier, age 36 of Santa Rosa County, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.

Marcel was born and raised in Santa Rosa County and resided here for most of his life. He was the owner of Ledbetter Construction Company and had been a licensed residential builder since 2005. He took pride in his work and his reputation. Marcel's first love was his family and following in a close second was his hunting dogs. Marcel's membership in many clubs included: South Eastern Dog Hunters Association, Blackwater Foxhunters Association, Allentown Kennels and Santa Rosa Foxhunters Association. Sanders Courtney 1941 - 2014

Sanders Courtney age 73 of New York Community Chumuckla, FL passed on the 10th day of February 2014. He was a plumber most of his life until he retired. He loved fishing, driving around, going to see friends and sitting around the campfire with everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivory and Woodrow Courtney; sisters, Sady (Arnold) Enfinger Maxine Courtney, Evelyn Lowery, and Juanita Bush; brothers, Gene (Virtis) Courtney, Wilson Courtney and Alton Adkisson. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 40 years, Joyce Courtney; son, Lamanuel (Kandy) Courtney; daughter, Elizabeth (Tim) Harrelson; grandchildren, Ashley, Sara, Makayla, Cordale and Jackson; one great-grandchild on the way, Lucas Barber; sister, Emmagene and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Jay Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm with Brother Bobby Carnley officiating services. Burial will follow at Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Scott, George Tedder, Bobby Adkisson, Mike Adkisson, Daniel Madden, and Jerome Lail. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Holland and Wayne Hawthorne. The family would like to thank Roxanne Dunsford and all the Hospice nurses. They were very sweet and informative. They did a remarkable job. They would also like to thank Dr. David Smith; he has been there for us through everything. A special thanks to Angela, one of the nurses, she went beyond the means of a nurse. Angela loved listening to stories about him and the family. She always made sure he was comfortable and she would make us laugh to keep us more at ease about the situation. Jay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Morgan Baker, 96 of Allentown, FL passed away February 10, 2014 at home.
Morgan was born in Loango, AL on Oct. 30, 1917:
He was a retired farmer and a former chairman of the ASC committee. He served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Farm Bureau and was the first farm manager at the Florida Experiment Station. Morgan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 56 years and was a Deacon Emeritus. He lived in Santa Rosa County most of his life and was also a member of the Scratch Ankle Camping Club.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Edna
