Mrs. Carolyn Pearl Ellis, age 87, of Chumuckla, FL, passed away Thursday evening, August 23, 2007. She was born January 10, 1920 in Mobile, AL and had been a lifelong resident of Chumuckla.Her husband, Jake Ellis; parents, Sidney and Pearl McCurdy Barter; daughter, Gretchen Stephens; son, Jimmy Ellis; and sister, Elizabeth Park; preceded her in death.Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Hamel of Pensacola, Louise White of Milton, and Lisa Watkins of Memphis, TN; two sons, Glen Gard of Pensacola and John Ellis of Pace; brother, David Barter; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the Donnie Sowell Funeral Home with the Reverend Donald Levins officiating.Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery in Chumuckla, FL.DONNIE SOWELL FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm. Curtis Cook - Hospital

Curtis (Class of '67) is in Sacred Heart Hospital. The Dr.'s are almost positive Curtis has Lymphoma and pneumonia. There is a mass in the middle of his chest between his lungs and has spread to the top left lung. Also there is a lymph node under his arm about the size of a golf ball. They will take out the lymph node tomorrow and do a biopsy, that should give them a better idea as to what they are dealing with. Curtis had all the symptoms of Lymphoma,Fevers,Chills, Unexplained weight loss, Sweats, Lack of energy, Itching. Keep him in your prayers (Carole will update) Room 227 At SH Hospital.

Ruthard Fredrick Cotton, 87, of Chumuckla, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2007. Mr. Cotton was a native and lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County. He was retired from St. Regis/Champion Paper Mill with over 28 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and served two terms overseas. He was a member of the Chumuckla Methodist Church.Mr. Cotton is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Edna Ruth Cotton of Milton; six children, Jeffrey (Mable) Cotton of Chumuckla, Rita Gillman of Milton, Janice (Ernest) Jernigan of Chumuckla, Ronald (Twyla) Cotton of Jay, Gail (Billy) Golden of Jay, and Gregory (Susan) Cotton of Chumuckla; a brother, Eubie (June) Cotton of Pace, a sister in law, Ann Cotton of Pace; twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.Funeral Services for Mr. Cotton will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at the Lewis Funeral Home in Milton with the Rev. MILDRED BODIE DIAMOND 1926 - 2007
Mildred Vernice Diamond went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 19, 2007 after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Chumuckla, Florida on April 19, 1926, but lived most of her life in Pensacola, Florida. She retired from Monsanto. She was a charted member of Pine Forest Assembly of God Church. She loved her church and her many friends. She taught Sunday School for many years. She helped so many people out of depression with words of much wisdom. She was loved by all. The first thing upon awakening she read her Bible to start her day. She was a saint and a blessing to all.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd Diamond; parents, John and Addie Bodie; sister, Shirley Foley; brothers, A.J. and William Bodie; and daughter-in-law, Donna Diamond.
She leaves behind her children that loved her dearly and will miss calling or going by to check on her and end each conversation with "I Love You Mama," Jerry Diamond (Louise), Janice Diamond Pittman (Larry) and George Diamond; grandchildren, Scott (Grace) Diamond, Joey Diamond, Brandon Diamond, Ashley Johnson (David), Stephen Diamond (Jackie), Marcus Diamond, Jennifer and Christa Rogaliner and Laci Conour; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Garrett Diamond, Madison, Dylan and Dayvin Johnson, and Ethen Diamond; one great-great grandchild, Anthony Rogaliner; sister, Imogene Gold (Floyd), Nell Oden and Audrey Sanders (Mike); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with the Rev. Gene Hudson and the Rev. Ron Carnley officiating.
Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Diamond, Brandon Diamond, Stephen Diamond, Dale Turman, Ronald Oden and Jeremy Mears. Honorary pallbearers will be Pine Forest Assembly of God Ladies, in her Sunday School Class.

Easy Candy Recipes
Crockpot Double Nut Clusters recipe
1 pound unsalted peanuts
1 pound salted cashew pieces
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 (8 ounce) bar German sweet chocolate, chopped
2 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
2 pounds vanilla bark or almond bark, chopped
Place nuts in bottom of 3-quart crock pot and stir to mix. Add all of the chocolate. Cover and cook on LOW for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until chocolate is melted, stirring once during cooking time. Stir well, then drop spoonsful of the mixture onto wax paper- or parchment paper-lined cookie sheets. Refrigerate until set.

Place ingredients as listed into crock pot. Set to LOW, put on lid and let stand 3 hours. (Do not lift lid or stir.) Afterward, stir up candy for about 3 to 5 minutes. Pour out onto wax paper. When set, cut into squares.
